For Dental Practices

Supporting Dental Practices Across Scotland

At Dental Training Centre, we understand the importance of recruiting and developing skilled dental nurses who will become valued members of your team.

As a Qualifications Scotland Approved Centre, we work in partnership with dental practices across Scotland to deliver the Modern Apprenticeship in Dental Nursing, providing high-quality training, workplace assessment and ongoing support throughout the apprenticeship.

Our aim is to make the apprenticeship process straightforward, allowing employers to focus on supporting their apprentice while we provide guidance every step of the way.

Why Choose Dental Training Centre?

Choosing the right training provider is an important decision. At Dental Training Centre, we pride ourselves on delivering a professional, supportive and flexible service for both employers and apprentices.

Our approach is built on developing strong relationships with the practices we work with, providing regular communication and personalised support throughout the apprenticeship.

A Personal Approach

We intentionally keep our apprentice intake small so that we can provide every apprentice and every employer with the individual support they deserve.

By working with a smaller number of apprentices, we're able to build strong working relationships with our employers, maintain regular contact and provide a responsive service throughout the apprenticeship.

We believe that quality support leads to confident apprentices, successful employers and positive outcomes for everyone involved.

Flexible Delivery

We understand that every dental practice operates differently, which is why we offer a flexible approach to apprenticeship delivery.

Where appropriate, our approach includes:

  • Regular workplace visits for support and assessment.
  • Some SVQ assessments carried out remotely where appropriate.
  • PDA assessments delivered locally where appropriate, helping to reduce unnecessary travel and minimise disruption to the working day.
  • Ongoing communication and support throughout the apprenticeship.

Our aim is to make the apprenticeship as accessible and convenient as possible while maintaining the highest standards of training and assessment.

Funded Apprenticeship Places

We have funded Modern Apprenticeship places available for eligible apprentices aged 16–19.

We'll guide you through the eligibility requirements, enrolment process and all the necessary paperwork, making the process as straightforward as possible for your practice.

If you're unsure whether an apprentice is eligible, we're always happy to discuss your individual circumstances.

Our Support for Employers

From your initial enquiry through to successful completion of the apprenticeship, we'll work alongside your practice by providing:

  • Guidance throughout the apprenticeship journey.
  • Support with enrolment and programme planning.
  • Regular workplace assessment and progress reviews.
  • Ongoing communication with both employer and apprentice.
  • Individual learner support.
  • Advice whenever you need it.

We believe employers should have confidence that they're working with a training provider who is approachable, responsive and committed to delivering a high-quality service.

Benefits of Employing an Apprentice

Recruiting an apprentice allows you to invest in the future of your practice while developing a skilled member of your dental team.

Apprentices gain practical experience in the workplace while working towards nationally recognised qualifications, enabling them to build confidence, develop professional skills and become valued members of your team.

Employer Responsibilities

As the employer, you will:

  • Employ the apprentice within your dental practice.
  • Provide opportunities for workplace learning.
  • Support the apprentice throughout the programme.
  • Allow time for workplace assessment and training activities.
  • Work in partnership with Dental Training Centre to help the apprentice succeed.

We'll be there to guide and support you throughout the apprenticeship.

Employer FAQs

Do we need previous experience of employing an apprentice?

No. We'll guide you through every stage of the apprenticeship, from your initial enquiry through to successful completion.

Can we recruit our own apprentice?

Yes. Many practices recruit their own apprentice before contacting us. We'll then support you through the enrolment process and apprenticeship requirements.

What support will we receive?

We'll provide regular communication, workplace assessment, progress reviews and ongoing support throughout the apprenticeship.

How often will the assessor visit?

Regular workplace visits will be arranged throughout the apprenticeship, with some SVQ assessments carried out remotely where appropriate.

We haven't employed an apprentice before. Can you help?

Absolutely. We'll explain the apprenticeship process, discuss eligibility, answer your questions and support your practice every step of the way.
